The Loom of VIDAR is a collaborative installation by Ahti Interiors and Alexis Dornier, bringing together architecture, collectible design, furniture, bamboo craftsmanship, and lighting into one immersive environment.
Designed by Alexis Dornier, the Loom serves as a spatial expression of the VIDAR Collection, a meeting point between structure, material, and movement. Its open bamboo framework creates a sense of rhythm and repetition, inspired by the process of weaving and the traditional loom.
Behind the installation is a collective of creative partners, each contributing a distinct discipline to the experience.
Alexis Dornier — Architectural Designer of The Loom & VIDAR
At the heart of the project is Alexis Dornier, the designer behind both The Loom of VIDAR and the VIDAR Collection.
Known for his distinctive approach to architecture and form, Dornier developed The Loom as a spatial interpretation of VIDAR, translating the collection's design language into an immersive pavilion.
The structure explores the relationship between geometry, repetition, natural materials, and movement, creating an architectural experience that changes as visitors move through it.
Rather than functioning as a conventional display, The Loom becomes a setting where the VIDAR Collection can be experienced within a larger architectural narrative.
Mary Verspoor — Collectible Objects
Mary Verspoor brings collectible objects into the installation, adding an artistic and tactile dimension to the pavilion.
Her pieces contribute moments of character and discovery throughout the space, creating a dialogue between collectible design and the architectural language of The Loom.
The objects become part of the environment rather than simply occupying it, reinforcing the pavilion's emphasis on craftsmanship, materiality, and curation.
WOF Wooden — Furniture
WOF Wooden contributes furniture that brings warmth and a human scale to the pavilion.
Working with wood and natural materiality, the furniture complements the bamboo structure while creating spaces for visitors to pause, gather, and experience the installation.
Its presence adds another layer to the material dialogue of The Loom, connecting the architectural framework with the everyday experience of furniture and living.
Chiko Wirahadi — Bamboo Construction
The architectural framework of The Loom is brought to life through the bamboo construction expertise of Chiko Wirahadi.
Working with bamboo as both a structural and expressive material, Chiko translates Dornier's design into a physical framework of repeated lines, intersections, and woven planes.
The result reflects the central idea behind The Loom—a structure built through connection, repetition, and craftsmanship, rooted in a material deeply connected to Indonesia.
Prima Design · LTECH · Nurco — Lighting System
Lighting plays an integral role in shaping the atmosphere of The Loom.
Prima Design, LTECH, and Nurco contribute to the pavilion's lighting system, carefully integrating illumination into the architectural environment.
The lighting works alongside the bamboo structure to reveal its geometry, depth, and rhythm throughout the space. Rather than simply illuminating the pavilion, it helps define the experience, bringing attention to the layers of the structure and creating an evolving atmosphere as visitors move through The Loom.
